Online Seasons in FC 26 is a game mode for pure football skills. You do not need to spend money or grind time, you get top tier squads right away to face players worldwide in a fair matchup. The mode has two ways to play, League Matches and Cup Matches.
League Matches Rules
League Matches is the core mode of Online Seasons. Everyone starts at Division 10 and plays online against other players to reach Division 1 and grab that D1 title.
Moving up or down Divisions depends on points. It is pretty simple: 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, and 0 for a loss. You can play up to 10 matches per League Matches season, meaning 30 points max. There are three milestone lines for your points: Hold, Promotion, and Title.
Here is how it works:
Hold
Hit this point requirement and you will stay in the same division when the season ends.
Promotion
This is the minimum score you need to move up to a higher League Matches division next season. If you hit it early, you can just start the new season right away instead of wasting time on the remaining games.
Title
Hitting this target secures your spot in a higher League Matches division and gets you the championship trophy for your current Division.
If you finish all 10 matches and fail to hit the Hold requirement, you will drop down 1 division, except for Division 10.
League Matches Matchmaking
League Matches uses a star based matchmaking system. Teams are rated from 1 star to 5 stars based on real life. The system tries to match you with opponents using teams with the same star rating.
If the queue takes too long or you want to challenge higher star teams, you can switch matchmaking to Loose Matching. The system will find you higher star opponents within a certain range, but the points you win or lose stay exactly the same.
Cup Seasons Rules
On top of regular League Matches, Cup Seasons opens up every few days and lasts for a few days. You play a total of 4 rounds, starting from the Round of 16 all the way to the finals. Win it all to add the trophy to your trophy room.
Cup Seasons uses a brutal single elimination format, which is way harsher than League Matches. Lose once and you are out, so there is zero room for error. Plus, Cup Seasons has tier restrictions. The Cup Seasons tier you can enter depends on your current League Matches Division.
Online Seasons Grinding Tips
When picking a team, try to avoid top tier 5 star teams. Otherwise, you will constantly run into mirror matches or other 5 star powerhouses, making games super sweaty. Going with a 4 star team gives you more breathing room. The opponents you face are generally weaker than 5 star squads, giving you a better shot at winning.
