1.Controlled Sprint

Once you get the ball, hold Controlled Sprint and head straight for the goal. The defender will sprint to catch up or set up early, closing the gap between you two.

2.Sudden Stop

When you are about two body lengths away from the defender, let go of all sprint buttons and just lightly flick the left stick. Inertia will throw off their balance.

3.Beating the Defender

The moment you see them lose balance, instantly push the stick the other way and blow right past them.

4.Full Sprint

Once you are past them, hit the sprint button to completely leave them in the dust, then decide whether to pass or shoot.

Must Know Dribbling Mechanics in FC 26

Effort Dribble Touch

Flick the right stick (PC: Numpad keys) in any direction during a Controlled Sprint. It is perfect when defenders get too close. Your player will quickly knock the ball ahead with a half turn, catching them completely off guard.

Simplified Skill Moves

Just flick the right stick (PC: Numpad keys) in any single direction while dribbling, and the game automatically triggers the best skill move based on your player skill stars. For example, low skill players might do a Ball Roll to shield the ball, while high skill players will automatically do a roulette or a 180 flick.

You need to turn on the "Simplified Skill Moves" toggle in the settings menu. It caps at 3 consecutive moves and has a slightly higher error rate than doing it manually, but it is perfect if you do not want to memorize complex combo inputs.

Which players are best for dribbling?

It mostly comes down to their agility and dribbling stats, plus their PlayStyles:

  • Technical: Gives a huge speed boost during Controlled Sprint and keeps the ball glued to their feet, like Messi or Bonmati.
  • Quick Step: Massive burst of acceleration in the first few steps, making it easier to break away from defenders.
