In FC 26, every player card has specific ratings for different stats, plus an OVR to show their overall strength at a glance.
But OVR can lie. Plenty of 90+ rated players feel worse in-game than an 85 rated card because of bad stat distribution or low hidden stats. This guide will show you how to read player stats so you know how to pick the best cards.
FC 26 Player Attribute Guide
There's a super easy shortcut to tell if a player is good: just check the Transfer Market. Look up other players with the same OVR. If his price is lower than other cards with the same rating, he's not worth using. On the flip side, if his price is way higher, he's definitely worth starting.
Obviously, this isn't foolproof since prices depend on a lot of factors. To really know if a player is good, you need to look at three main things: FC IQ, PlayStyles, and Body Type:
Dimension 1: FC IQ
Off-ball AI behavior in FC 26 is completely decided by Player Roles. There are four proficiency levels:
- Base: Very stiff positioning, can barely play the position
- Role: Decent enough to follow tactical instructions
- Role+: Great AI behavior, reacts dynamically to what's happening on the pitch
- Role++: Top-tier AI, anticipates plays instead of just reacting

Dimension 2: PlayStyles & PlayStyles+
PlayStyles completely dictate a card's ceiling, especially the gold PlayStyles+ since those boosts are insane and maximize a player's potential.
Best PlayStyles for each position:
| Position | PlayStyles / PlayStyles+ |
| ST / CF / LW / RW | • Finesse Shot • Quick Step • Rapid |
| CM / CDM / CAM | • Incisive Pass • Tiki Taka • Pinged Pass |
| CB / RB / LB | • Anticipate • Jockey • Aerial Fortress |
Dimension 3: Body Type
Every player's body type is different. Smaller players are more agile when winning the ball, while bigger players are more solid on the ball.
Hidden stats and core mechanics
Besides the obvious stat boosts mentioned above, there are plenty of hidden player stats and mechanics in FC 26 that are easy to miss. Here is the breakdown:
Reactions and Composure
You have to check a player's detailed attributes to see these two. Usually you don't need to sweat them too much, but if you want to build an elite squad, they are a must.
- Composure: Determines how well a player pulls off moves when tightly marked by defenders.
- Reactions: Dictates how fast a player responds to loose balls, deflections, and your controller inputs.
AcceleRATE
- Explosive: Perfect for wingers and CAMs. It gives crazy burst acceleration to leave defenders in the dust instantly.
- Lengthy: Best for CBs and CDMs, or counter attacking strikers, letting them outrun opponents or track back easily once they hit top speed.
Vision
If you love possession play or through ball counters, this stat is way more important than long or short passing. Vision determines how well the AI spots gaps in the defense. High Vision players can easily read the pitch and throw out killer passes that are impossible to defend.

Work Rates And Unique Animations Guide
On top of those three, you can also judge a player by their Work Rates and Unique Animations.
Work rates are split into High, Medium, and Low. Forwards are best off with High/Low, letting them react faster and cleaner when they lose the ball. Defenders are best with Low/High to lock down your backline.
Big superstars have their own unique animations—like snappier shots or cooler running styles—giving them a completely different feel from everyone else.
