To score more goals in FC 27 competitive matches, what you need to learn is creating space, creating high-quality chances, and choosing the right finishing method—not learning more skill moves.
FC 27's AI attacking runs place heavy emphasis on space and defensive positioning, while the defensive side focuses more on manual defending. All of this affects your final attacking strategy.

Don't rush your shot—prioritize stretching the defensive line
FC 27 players have stronger attacking spatial awareness. Most of the time you don't need to manually trigger runs. Prioritize moving the defense with passes, then attack the gaps that open up.
For example, pass from the wing to the center, draw the opponent's midfielders and CBs inward, then pass back out to the winger and attack the space behind them.
This is more reliable than getting the ball on the wing, sprinting to the byline, and crossing. The opponent has a hard time reading your next move, so they can't set up an effective defense in time.
Use Curved Runs more often
This is a new run mechanic for attackers in FC 27. Press L1 + R1/LB + RB to trigger a Triggered Curved Run, making your teammate run around defenders toward the target position instead of running straight like in FC 26.
It's perfect for these situations:
- Winger cutting inside around the fullback
- ST running off the CB's shoulder
- CAM making a diagonal run into the box from the center
- Wide players cutting into the half-space
However, manually triggered runs in FC 27 have a distance limit. After running a certain distance, the player will stop and return to their normal position. If you want them to keep running, you have to switch to them and re-trigger the run.
Shooting Choices After Entering the Box
Shooting decisions are extremely important. They almost directly determine your goal conversion rate. Each scenario has a different suitable shooting method, roughly as follows:
| Situation | Recommended Shot |
|---|---|
| Facing the goal with a clear angle | Regular Shot |
| Inside the box with a clear path to goal | Low Driven Shot |
| Near the edge of the box with a diagonal angle | Finesse Shot |
| Open space from outside or the edge of the box | Power Shot |
| Goalkeeper is far off the line | Chip Shot |
| Player has the right PlayStyle and enough space | Trivela Shot |
Besides that, shooting-related settings also affect shot feel. Low Driven is especially good for close range and 1v1s, and Precision/Assisted also affects your aiming method.
Don't Always Aim for the Far Post
This is a mistake many people easily make. The moment they reach the edge of the box, they instinctively want to aim for the far post. But in reality, the far post is easy for the goalkeeper to save, and the hit rate is generally lower. You should prioritize observing the player's body orientation and position, and calculate the distance to the defender.
If it's a 1v1 and the goalkeeper is in the center, just use a normal Low Driven shot.
If the far post space is more obvious and the goalkeeper is showing signs of rushing out, then consider a far post shot, and before shooting, make sure nearby defenders can't intercept in time.
